TORONTO - Los Angeles Kings defenceman Sean O'Donnell has been suspended five games, including the first two of the regular season, for a match penalty during a pre-season game against the New York Islanders.
The NHL announced the suspension Wednesday after O'Donnell was penalized in the previous night's game for a cross-check on the Islanders' Matt Martin.
O'Donnell will miss Los Angeles' final three pre-season games and will be eligible to return in the Kings' third game of the season, against Minnesota on Oct. 8.
